Every generation seems to have its war. But some generations take it more seriously than others it seems. The following table is a summary of the generational and era alignment of the most visible wars, battles and skirmishes in the British Colonies and later the United States

  • A few of the conflicts were right on the cusp of a generational turn or have spanned more than one generation. In such cases I have located the war with the earlier generation.
  • War's and conflicts are always controversial. The two sides in a war are, by definition, at opposite ends of opinion. I try to present a variety of viewpoints in my choice of links and, obviously, none of them are necessarily my own.
