13 OriginalsThe Chinese claim to have a map that shows the Chinese visited the Americas earlier than Christopher Columbus.

We all know that the Vikings settled Greenland 500 years before Columbus and then used North America for hundreds of years as a source of raw materials. They even built a permanent camp there that has been excavated by archeologists. But now the Chinese claim to have evidence that they also visited the "New World" earlier than the Europeans. According to BBC, "the map, which shows North and South America, apparently states that it is a 1763 copy of another map made in 1418". Of course, I guess it really doesn't matter who discovered America more than 10000 years after the Native Americans but it is good theatre and it does highlight how written history favors the Conquerors.
