1/16/1991 - Gulf War: Operation Desert Storm began early in the morning. Iraq fires 8 Scud missiles into Israel in an unsuccessful bid to provoke Israeli retaliation. [see web pick below]

Fourteen years ago the ongoing battle for United States influence in the Middle East began in earnest with the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm. This web site is a U.S. military website about the Gulf War. It is primarily a clearing house for medical information useful to the many Gulf War veterans with lingering ailments related to the war but it also has a very detailed timeline and other useful information about the war.
