13 OriginalsJust a quick Thanksgiving note in passing. I ran into this article that gives a little background on the early colonization of the New England area. There are a couple of interesting twists on how everything transpired. In particular, I have captured a couple of paragraphs after the fold that seem to absolve the original settlers from the genocide that eventually occurred. I had never seen this explained before.

It is that time of year again. We can start thinking about the turkeys roasting and the pumpkin pies. The Thanksgiving Myth is a powerful image tied intimately to our perception of the United States. Every year we are reminded of the inaccuracies in the myth (see link below) and every year we laugh and go on repeating them. Such is the power of myth.
