General NewsWe have hit nearly a hundred votes on the question of whether you believe that we are approaching a crisis in America. Your answer appears to be a clear yes. (See results here.) Consequently, I am going to pull this survey off of the page to make room for another one that I have been working on. It is regarding the government monitoring your calls and emails. Let us know what you think.

General NewsJust returned from an extended trip away from the computer. It was kind of nice to get away but towards the end I began to miss pounding on the keyboard. I have a few things to catch up - like a jillion spam emails - but I should be posting again soon.

General NewsAccording to Stauss & Howe, the Third Turning is a time for strong individuals; weak institutions. Here is a classic example that we are still in a Third Turning:

Time Magazene named "Person of The Year" to be "You" (each individual)

Also, US Congress unanimously voted to honor the BSU - Boise State University (Boise, Idaho) Bronco Football Team in having the 13-0 season: the only undefeated season in the US for Division 1-A college Football for 2006. (as you can see no national emergencies are are happening for Congress to discuss, so Congress will take the all that idle time they have on their hands to vote on a Football Resolution)

General NewsJust a quick note. If you have heard anything bad about the storm that hit Seattle yesterday, it was probably true. I live in the Seattle area and lost a few trees and power will probably be lost for a few days at least. If you don't see any action here in the meantime you will know what the problem is. See you when I get back online. Update: We got power back a couple of days ago but I have a huge mess on my hands. My posting is likely to be spotty until the first of the year. Now would be a good time to jump in if you have been waiting for a good reason to contribute.

General NewsJust wanted to note that the TimeLog just passed its one year anniversary. I am still having fun with it, actually still trying to decide where I want to go with it, but I would like to see more of you join in the discussion. Feel free to comment on my contributions or add your own. Registration is free and easy and your data is completely private. The only restriction is that postings be generally related to history with specific reference to U.S. history and generational ideas. That's not much of a restriction when you consider that it covers the past, present and future.

General NewsIf anybody had trouble getting onto the TimeLog the last day or so it was because there was an attempted hack on the site and the web host shut me down. We have done some upgrades and repairs so hopefully we will be OK for a while. None of the data is assessable so there is nothing to worry about there.
